Case #4
38 year old female — top complaints: 10 lbs of stubborn weight, puffy eyelids, bloating, skin reactions to random foods and small bumps on face, neck, and chest. And PMS symptoms: irritability, fatigue, diarrhea, cramps.
Goal: have kids soon
We ran a GI Map + MRT Food Sensitivity Test
Here's what we found:
Pathogenic E. coli (EHEC)
A likely source of her diarrhea.
Usually contracted from fecal contamination of water or food (undercooked beef, raw milk, and unpasteurized juice).
Also a likely reason for the low Secretory Immunoglobulin A (seen below).
Antibiotics can be contraindicated (can initiate hemolytic uremic syndrome). Luckily this is a relatively easy to resolve to achieve relief
Lab high H. pylori
A major contributor to her bloating. When H. pylori is present and high, it means stomach acid is likely suppressed enough that food will ferment in the stomach (and then throughout the digestive tract). Fermentation produces...trapped gas.
4 Opportunistic Microbes
Both Pseudomonas strains prefer a low stomach acid environment and are often found with H. pylori, which we see here (they feed on undigested food).
They're particularly inflammatory, toxin-releasing, and cause intestinal permeability (leaky gut) — which can lead to food sensitivities (which she know she has).
Both can cause abdominal cramping and loose stools.
Low Secretory IgA
Unlike high Secretory IgA, low SIgA means the gut's immune system is struggling to keep up. This can be from chronic dysbiosis, antigen exposure, chronic stress, an immunocompromised patient, or protein malnutrition. In this case, it was likely from the presence of the Enterohemorrhagic E. coli you saw above.
24 Food Sensitivities
Several food sensitivities indicate a) leaky gut b) sources of inflammation
All of this exacerbates his symptoms, tire out the immune system, and contribute to her skin concerns and general inflammation
The High Level of the Protocol We Designed
-
Diet
We recommended this client go gluten free during her protocol, given wheat on her MRT results. We gave her our classic method for removing and reintegrating MRT foods, and encouraged anti-inflammatory meals.
-
Rest
We focused on nervous system regulation: allowing energy to flow through the body in practices like yoga, and encouraged detoxification while she spent her down time doing hobbies (like reading in the sauna or doing a puzzle in front of red light).
-
Movement
This client already did 2-4 strength workouts per week, so we just encouraged a bit more steps and some stretching (yoga included).
-
Stress
This client had a relatively balanced lifestyle, so we focused on releasing remaining tensions from her prior stressful job, such as reframing how she values time,. We also encouraged a gratitude practice and more time in her community or with friends.
-
Supplements
This client started on an EHEC & H.pylori eradication protocol that included digestive lining and immune supports for her gut.
During the eradication protocol, she was also on our most recommended probiotic and prebiotic to help support the good bacteria levels she had.
-
Results
This client felt so great by week 7, she no longer even wanted to do a planned hormone test — all her PMS symptoms had resolved. By the end of her protocol, she felt so good, she decided to not retest. This is 100% fine with us, as we let symptoms drive unless you're on an optimization quest.
