Case #3
42 year old female. Top complaints: heartburn, inflammation, mood swings, acne, and general poor digestion.
What's special: this client has ulcerative colitis and was already doing an incredible job of living a balanced lifestyle and eating perfectly.
We ran a GI Map + MRT Food Sensitivity Test
Here's what we found:
H. pylori with antibiotic resistance
Despite lots of doctors visits, eating well, and having great habits, this client didn't know she had H. pylori. This bacteria interferes with digestion by lowering stomach acid, which makes it harder to break food down and complete the stomach's digestion work in a timely manner.
Low Elastase-1
Elastase-1 is a digestive enzyme secreted exclusively by the pancreas, giving a direct indication of pancreatic function.
It's frequently low in the presence of H. pylori — giving additional indication of how H. pylori is affecting digestion beyond the stomach.
Low Secretory IgA
Unlike high Secretory IgA, low SIgA means the gut's immune system is struggling to keep up. This can be from chronic dysbiosis, antigen exposure, chronic stress, an immunocompromised patient, or protein malnutrition.
15 Food Sensitivities
Several food sensitivities indicate a) leaky gut b) sources of inflammation
All of this exacerbates his symptoms, busies the immune system, and adds to his fatigue and headaches.
The High Level of the Protocol We Designed
-
Diet
We recommended this client go gluten free during her protocol, given wheat on her MRT results. We gave her our classic method for removing and reintegrating MRT foods, and encouraged anti-inflammatory meals.
-
Rest
This client had a good amount of rest already built into her typical day, so we didn't do much here beside encourage those moments to be more screen-free.
-
Movement
This client walked a lot but was afraid to workout harder given the uncertainty of her symptoms. As they reduced, we got her up to two strength workouts a day and she said her energy went through the roof.
-
Stress
This client had a very balanced lifestyle, so we focused on mental stressors and methods of managing them. She had a lot of fun adding journaling, breathwork, and singing, as well as swimming and yoga as physical outlets.
-
Supplements
This client started on an H.pylori eradication protocol that included digestive enzymes and immune support for her gut.
During the eradication protocol, she was also on our most recommended probiotic and prebiotic to help maintain the good bacteria levels she had.
-
Results
On retest, this client had a significant reduction in H. pylori — it tends to be that it sticks around but in much lower numbers, so we counted this as a win because her symptoms started fading away, with her heartburn 100% gone.
Retest Results
Lower H. pylori
This reduces the stress load on her entire digestion and ensures she's getting more nutrients from everything she eats.
Improved Markers
This reduced the stress load on her body, increases her nutrients, and brought up her gut's ability to respond to immune threats.
